As a first-generation American, I know how hard it is to navigate a job in corporate when you have no idea what you are supposed to do. I used to think that as long as I worked hard at my job my efforts would immediately be recognized and rewarded. It wasn't until I hit a plateau in my career that I realized putting my head down and quietly working would no longer cut it if I wanted to move into a leadership role.

People need to know who you are, and how valuable you are to the organization. It's on you to create that for yourself - not every manager will be a good people leader, but don't let that prevent YOU from taking your career into your own hands.
